Suffering, persecution, martyrdom - these are words that define the life of nearly three-fourths of the Christian population worldwide. This is especially true in countries where the Christian population is a minority and are dominated and repressed by other religious communities. The work of our mission against persecution of Christians can be divided into four zones:

  • The Islamic World
  • The Communist World
  • The Buddhist World
  • The Hindu World

The Islamic World - Muslim countries especially in the Middle East are extremely strict and rigid in their faith. It is very difficult to penetrate such nations with the Gospel. Our Mission has many churches spread over countries like Afghanistan, Yemen, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Iraq.

Our Mission representatives print and distribute Christian literature secretly among the Christian converts and interested Muslim brethren. The danger of working in such regions can be understood only when one knows of the punishments meted out to Christian converts and people caught distributing Christian literature. Believers are imprisoned and tortured severly, some have their hands chopped off and others are maimed for life. Despite all these, the Muslim brothers who embrace Christ are among the strongest believers in the world. They are ready to die for Christ.

In Afghanistan, our mission began its work twenty years ago. At the time there was only one church in the country which was also demolished by the Muslim fanatics. Since there was no possible means to reach out to people, Dr. Job introduced a novel method to penetrate the masses. He arranged for powerful books like "Tortured for Christ", 'His Master's Job", "He Lived Among Us" "Proofs of God's Existence" etc. to be translated into Dhari and Pushto - the main languages spoken by people in Afghanistan. These books were smuggled into Afghanistan and distributed among people. Slowly, people started turning to Christ and we now have a vibrant Christian base in Afghanistan. Our representatives continue their risk-filled tasks each day winning more and more souls to Christ.

Saudi Arabia has one of the strictest anti-Muslim laws. The secret Christian community there are very wary of meeting outsiders who they think are spies. In this country our Mission has three computerized printing units which act as a cover for our religious activities. Our ministry supplies Christian literature to the people there and underground churches are mushrooming in the country.

Yemen - This small nation has one of the strictest regulations in the Islamic World. It is virtually impossible to enter this state with the message of the Gospel. In this state our mission has begun an underground press from where Christian literature is produced and distributed among the people. There is a small group of very staunch Christian converts who are instrumental in bringing more people into the Christian fold.

Our work in Egypt began 8 years ago. Our mission there works under cover of a Computer Institute which is housed in four-storied building. While training local people in computers for which there is a great demand we introduce them to the Gospel and encourage them to take home Christian literature such as books and leaflets. One has to be very careful from the government as well as the local Muslim community. We conduct secret Bible courses and in our Computer Institute which also runs like a regular college.

Pakistan has long been declared the centre of terrorism. It is one of the most dangerous Muslim countries to work in. Hundreds of Christian brethren have been killed on the assumption that they are American spies. Since arms and ammunition is available freely in the state, the reign of terror exists. Many of our co-workers have been gunned down while conducting a service. Many others have been imprisoned for their faith. Our mission works among this small but strong Christian community by providing Christian books like "Tortured for Christ" and "He Lived Among Us" which have been translated into Urdu (the main spoken language of Pakistan). Our mission also provides medical treatment and financial aid to the families of martyred and persecuted Christians. We also work to secure the release of our imprisoned brethren through campaigns and protests.

The Buddhist World - The small states of Bhutan and Tibet (officially a part of China). In Bhutan and Tibet, nobody can become a Christian officially. Secret Christians stand to lose their jobs, houses and promotions if the government comes to know of their faith. There is no freedom of expression, freedom of faith or freedom to live if one is a Christian. In a recent incident, a group of policemen visited several schools across Bhutan. They offered chocolates to the young students on the condition that they identify the religion that they practice at home. The innocent gullible children confessed their true faith to the police. The result was that the children who were Christians were thrown out of the schools and their parent's jobs were also taken away from them. Some of the families were threatened and tortured to leave their faith. Our mission has an orphanage and a High School so that such children can continue their education and become the missionaries of the next generation.

The Hindu World - Nepal and India form the two main countries of the Hindu World. Nepal is the only country in the world that is officially declared a Hindu nation. India, is apparently a secular nation but since Hindus form the majority there has been a rising tide of Hindu fanaticism against Christians in the past decade. Many of our Christian co-workers have been imprisoned for their faith. People are arrested and kept in prison without trial for years just because they are Christians. Our mission in Nepal has freed many such "prisoners for Christ" by writing letters of protest to the Government, by "buying" their freedom and through the influence of the Indian Government. Many churches in Nepal continue to be bombed but the number of Christians keeps growing.

India has been witnessing many incidents of violence against Christians specially in the states of Orissa and Gujarat. The list of Chritian martyrs in India is growing. Dr. Job's son, Michael Job was also a victim of this wave of persecution. The Anti-Conversion Bill passed in Tamil Nadu and Orissa and initiated in Gujarat state recently is a further step to restrict the freedom of the Christian community and to allow the rise of persecution. In India our mission conducts massive Gospel Outreach campaigns in cities every year. A procession called "The March for Jesus" which is also a visual demonstration of the power of the Gospel is also taken out to reach maximum people. Our mission representatives go from school to school, village to village, hospital to hospital to distribute Picture Bibles among the non-Christian population. There is a powerful revival going on in the midst of such severe persecution.

The Communist World - China, North Korea, Vietnam and Laos are the main Communist nations left in the world where the persecution of Christians continues on a large scale. The Christians under the Communist regime have to face tremendous suffering. Dr. Job was the first to smuggle Christian literature from South Korea to North Korea and distribute it to the secret churches and local Christian community there in 1976. For his pioneering efforts, Dr. Job was awarded the Mappe Award by the South Korean Government. Our mission continues to distribute Christian literature and conduct small meetings in these countries where many people are turning to the Lord. Our mission has also achieved tremendous success in China. When Dr. Job started his mission in China in 1970, there were only 4 million Christians. Now there are more than 20 million Christians. Many of our mission workers and other Christian brethren have been killed or have become "living martyrs" during their work to win more souls for Christ.

Our mission works against the persecution of our Christian brethren; defying political, social, economic and religious barriers to reach out to them. Be it the economically deprived continent of Africa, the populous continent of Asia or the dominant continents of Europe and America, our mission leaders have traveled all over, identifying areas and incidents of persecution, collecting and taking financial aid to families of martyred Christians, distributing Christian literature to those deprived of the message of the Christian faith and holding massive campaigns in major cities of the world to introduce Jesus Christ to the masses.

Pray that our mission will be able to reach out to more and more of our suffering brethren across the globe.
